Your Kids Don't Have to Behave for Beautiful Family Photos

Let's talk about something I hear from parents all the time.

"I'm worried my kids won't cooperate." Maybe your toddler doesn't sit still. Maybe your little one is shy around new people. Maybe your kids have approximately 37 seconds before they're completely over having their pictures taken.

And maybe the thought of getting everyone dressed, out the door, and smiling for family photos already has you stressed. Can I tell you something? Your kids don't have to behave perfectly for us to create beautiful photos.

In fact, I don't expect them to.

I'm a Mom of Five. I Get It.

I know what it's like to get everyone dressed, make sure nobody spills something on their clothes, and attempt to get out the door on time.I also know kids have big feelings, short attention spans, and their own ideas about how things should go.

And that's okay!

When you show up for your family session, I don't expect your children to suddenly become little models who stand perfectly still and smile on command. I want them to be kids.Your Family Session Isn't About Perfect Poses

Of course, we'll get a few traditional family portraits. I know how important those are, too!

But some of my favorite photographs happen when nobody is looking at the camera. When your little one runs straight into your arms. When Dad starts being silly and everyone bursts into laughter. When your child reaches for your hand without even thinking about it.When you're cuddling your baby and forget I'm standing there with a camera. Those are the moments I love.

Because years from now, you might not remember whether everyone smiled perfectly. But you'll remember how tiny their hands felt in yours. What If My Child Has a Meltdown? Then we take a break. Seriously. That's it.

There's no pressure to force a smile or make your child perform for the camera. We can explore, play a game, take a little walk, or simply give them a moment.Sometimes kids need time to warm up, and sometimes they need a little space. I follow their lead while gently guiding the session.

And parents, here's something I really want you to hear: You don't have to spend your entire session correcting your children. I want you to be present with them.Let me worry about the photographs.

Your Family Is Worth Remembering Exactly as You Are.I think sometimes we put so much pressure on family photos because we want everything to look perfect.

The outfits. The hair. The smiles. The behavior. But the truth is, the things that make your family beautiful aren't found in perfection.

They're found in the way your kids laugh together. The way your husband looks at you when you're holding your little one.The way your child wraps their arms around your neck. The beautiful, ordinary moments that make up your life right now.And those moments deserve to be remembered, too.

Let's Make Family Photos Something You Actually EnjoyMy approach to family photography is relaxed, playful, and centered around connection. We'll laugh, move, explore, cuddle, and capture a little bit of the beautiful chaos that makes your family yours. You don't need perfectly behaved kids.

You don't need to know how to pose. And you definitely don't need to have it all together.

You just need to show up and love on your people. I'll take care of the rest. 🤍
